Moira has been a registered nurse since 1978 in both general and mental health nursing. She specialised in long term conditions and the complex combination of conditions and disabilities that affect older people. She was involved in assessing needs, working with patients to set their short, medium and long term goals around mobility and getting back into the community, working alongside physios, occupational therapists, psychologists and medical staff as well as statutory and voluntary organisations.
Moira is now a lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton and is the Practice Academic Co-ordinator for the Isle of Wight. She lectures and works with health professionals facilitating their learning around the needs of those with disabilities whether they are physical or mental, and has personal experience of long term conditions and disability.
In the last 2 years Moira has set up and run my own coaching business and aims to use those coaching skills in all situations. She is a mentor with the Chamber of Commerce, working with the 18-24 age group to increase their business skills.
