Isle Access

Important Update: New Trustees and Focus on Accessible Cycling

We’re entering an exciting new phase at Isle Access. Following the retirement of our CEO and Founder, Jan Brookes, we’re thrilled to announce that we have new trustees joining the team. Their fresh perspectives and dedication will help us continue to drive our mission of increasing access and inclusion for all.

In light of Jan’s departure, we’ve made the decision to scale back some of our activities and focus our efforts on one of our flagship projects: Isle Riders, our accessible cycling programme. This project has grown significantly, and we’re now seeking new volunteers and participants to help us take it to the next level. If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of something that truly makes a difference in people’s lives, we’d love to have you join us! For more information on how you can get involved, please email cycling@isleaccess.co.uk.

We’d also like to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Jan Brookes. Over the last 9 years, Jan has been instrumental in championing access and inclusion across the Isle of Wight. Whether it was helping to make Ryde beach accessible, producing a film highlighting the loneliness of young people, or advising businesses on improving their accessibility, Jan has truly made a lasting impact.

For those of you interested in the accessible swimming group, please reach out to Amy E. Byford at amy.e.byford@gmail.com.

As we look ahead, we’re excited about the future of Isle Access and the impact we’ll continue to have on the Isle of Wight community. We hope you’ll join us in supporting Isle Riders and all our ongoing efforts to create a more accessible and inclusive Island.
