A registered nurse since 1978 in both general and mental health nursing, I specialised in long term conditions and the complex combination of conditions and disabilities that affect older people. I was involved in assessing needs, working with patients to set their short, medium and long term goals around mobility and getting back into the community, working alongside physios, occupational therapists, psychologists and medical staff as well as statutory and voluntary organisations.
I’ve been a university lecturer in Health Sciences and now work for the Open University. I specialise around the needs of people with disabilities whether they are physical or mental, and I personally have personal experience of long term conditions and disability.
In the last 2 years I have set up and run my own coaching business, and I am also a mentor with the Chamber of Commerce, working with the 18-24 age group to increase their business skills.
